New Essoin page! I forgot how awkward it is to draw Alys. /:o But fun too. PSA: This is what happens when you travel without the proper paperwork while an ordinance is in effect!

Also shameless Patreon plug!

You know, if this is why some people become bandits or renegade knights then I can see it. They are going to lock her up instead of taking care of said bandits. What.

She's a strange person with poor identification in a restricted area, hanging around the corpse of a known criminal. I challenge you to make a strong case for the guardswoman believing our heroine is not a bandit.

My brain is too overheated and tired to give you something right now so I guess later but for now you can tell me whether you prefer Domino's or Pizza Hut.

Uhm, sorry, I don't prefer either of those. I live a sadly pizza-free existence for various, terrible reasons I won't threaten your sanity with.
Are you asking for reasons connected to the sadly final comic posted there?
MadJak91 22nd Sep 2017, 2:59 PM edit delete reply
I am sorry, AC, I am not buying your remark but no, that was not the reason. And case closed when it comes to talking about that link under someone else's comic out of the blue. I needed a notification in my updates of some kind so I remember to reply to your previous question as I was too tired to think, haha. I fully expected you to say "no pizza for me" though for some reason lmao.

You have a point. I thought she saw the combat but it appears she did not. Still, I find it quite funny some paperwork ranks higher than the fact a person was almost killed by a bandit and killed him in self defense but ya. The guard did not see a thing. Although I would expect the guard to AT LEAST hear Alys's story before handing out arrest warrants...

Milk protein allergy. Pizza's kinda pointless without the cheese, and, well....

Even if the Hildeguard saw some or all of the combat, how is she supposed to know that Alys isn't a worse criminal than just a trespasser? Killing someone, even if the corpse is a known bandit and the suspect claims it was self-defense, makes her some kind of killer. That's criminally suspicious by itself on top of the trespass. The right thing for the cop to do is to haul the suspect in on the charges they can make stick so that they can do the investigation. If the cop doesn't do that, they risk the suspect destroying evidence, tipping off accomplices, or skipping town to avoid arrest and prosecution later if it turns out that there's more to it than the lesser charge.

Besides all that, throughout history there have been many cases where trespass by itself carries a death penalty. I'm not a historian specializing in that, but the examples I remember offhand include things like a noble's personal game forest, sensitive fortifications, and seraglios.

I see, I see, without the right paperwork she gets prejudicially treated as a suspicious person trespassing in a particularly restricted area.

*nods sagely*

Man...comment notifications are being really weird lately. But rules are rules, Jak. She's breaking an enforced ordinance and that cannot go unpunished! XD
